Training to serve with the bishop

More than 25 teenagers turned out Sept. 25 at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica, Beaumont, to train as Episcopal Altar Servers. Deacon David Luther, the diocesan master of ceremonies, led the youth through exercises and instructed them on what to expect when serving with Bishop Curtis Guillory, SVD.

Another 16 Episcopal Altar Servers also attended the training day to receive a refresher course and to get to know each other better. (more…)

Bulldogs take down the longhorns

The Msgr. Kelly High School, Beaumont, Bulldogs took on the Hampshire-Fannett Longhorns Sept. 24 for the Kelly homecoming.
The Longhorns took the lead for the first two quarters, but the Bulldogs took them down in the end for a final score of 41 to 24. During halftime Lucy Prewitt, a St. Anne, Beaumont, parishioner, was crowned the homecoming queen. (more…)
